“My greatest accomplishment was learning to be gentle; without that I feel I would have achieved nothing.” ~ Monty Roberts

MIGUEL LUPIANO
MIGUEL LUPIANO
Miguel Lupiano was born in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil. Today he lives in Brasília, Brazil’s capital. He started dealing with horses when he was a child in his grandfather’s farm. He became a professional horse trainer at the age of seventeen. Since then it has been more than thirty years working with all breed of horses. After all those years, looking for the best techniques to deal with horses, Miguel became the first Latin American Monty Roberts Certified Instructor in April 2015. He had an opportunity to participate in the Horse Sense and Soldiers Clinic, and to bring those experiences to help people use the horse and the Join Up method somehow. Miguel’s location, right in the center of Brazil, allows him to travel throughout the country, south and Central America, to give courses and clinics, horse training, lectures, presentations and demonstrations, advice, projects and staff training.
WALDO JUNQUEIRA FRANCO
WALDO JUNQUEIRA FRANCO
Born in Barretos, Brazil, horses are rooted in his blood and through his family’s history. The Junqueira’s created a breed of horses in Brazil called Mangalarga in the 1800s. Waldo’s passion for horses started during his childhood on his family ranch where he would spend holidays with the horses. He also participated in a few show jumping competitions as well as a few rodeo events with horses. He started his Monty Roberts training with his wife who is also a Monty Roberts Advanced Student of horsemanship. Today Waldo lives between Barretos (Brazil’s rodeo capital) and Long Beach, California. In California he works as the CEO of a technology company, Broad PC, and while in Brazil he spends his time on his family ranch working and training horses as well as teaching Monty’s concepts. Waldo became the second Monty Roberts Certified Instructor in Brazil in 2023. He has participated in the Horse Sense & Healing Clinics at Flag Is Up Farms for veterans, Lead-Up for youth, as well as taught all Introductory Courses at the Monty Roberts International Learning Center.
BEATRIZ FRANCO
BEATRIZ FRANCO
Bia is the first women from Brazil (and currently only) to receive a Monty Roberts Instructor Certification. She is based in Barretos/SP and together with her husband Waldo Junqueira Franco (also a Monty Roberts Certified Instructor), they train horses and teach Monty’s concepts on their ranch.

Bia’s focus is to teach using Monty’s methods to show people in Brazil that violence is never the answer. When Bia started her journey to learn Monty’s concepts, she was afraid of horses, and is now living proof that you can overcome your fears and achieve your dreams.

Ask Monty: How do you break the chain of violence?

May 27th, 2020|

Ask Monty: How do you break the chain of violence? ... If my life has been led as you have described, and I believe it has, then to be reminded of the wonderful work of people such as Sister Agnes Patricia and The Queen is a joy far more important than most people would ever realize.
