Becoming a Monty Roberts Certified Instructor
May 31, 2019 Solvang, California: Becoming a Monty Roberts Certified Instructor provides unique skills in the equine industry, learning to train in the absence of violence, with excellent performance too. The steps involved in becoming a Monty Roberts Certified Instructor are listed below:
Step 1:
Begin with the Introductory Course of Horsemanship: 2 weeks of horse work and classroom study at the Monty Roberts International Learning Center (MRILC). Learn the Join-Up® method, Dually halter skills, long lining, herding exercises, trailer loading as well as equine psychology, physiology and nutrition. All skill levels are welcome.
Step 2:
Next step is distance learning, practice and field study at home with video assessment provided by the MRILC, helping determine readiness to take the Introductory Course exams.
Step 3:
Return to the MRILC for the exam. Passing the exam provides the opportunity to take the Advanced Horsemanship Course.
Step 4:
The Advanced Horsemanship Course can only be taken at the MRILC and consists of 3 weeks of training unstated and untouched horses as well as remedial ones, and in-depth study of equine psychology.
Step 5:
Again, distance learning, practice and field study at home with video assessment provided by the MRILC, helping determine readiness to take the Advanced Course exams at the MRILC.
Step 6:
On successful completion of the Advanced Exams, selected students may be invited for the Certified Instructor’s Internship.
This internship has been created for students wishing to become Certified Instructors in the Monty Roberts methodology. Monty Roberts Certified Instructors are qualified to teach Join-Up® and Long-Lining classes worldwide as well as the Monty Roberts Introductory Course and Horsemanship 101 classes.
The internship consists of a minimum of three months at Flag Is Up Farms, during which time you will assist with teaching and learn the skills necessary to run your own business. Existing Instructors will guide you through this process, and Monty will check your progress regularly. Monty will assess you at the end of your three months and depending on your progress, you may need to complete further training, or you may be ready to graduate and join the exclusive and limited ranks of Monty Roberts Certified Instructors.

MONTY ROBERTS AVAILABLE FOR SELECT INTERVIEWS:
The New York Times bestselling author and world-renowned horse trainer Monty Roberts is available for interviews.
MONTY ROBERTS first gained widespread fame with the release of his New York Times Best Selling book, The Man Who Listens To Horses; a chronicle of his life and development of his non-violent horse training methods called Join-Up®. Monty grew up on a working horse farm as a firsthand witness to traditional, often violent methods of horse training and breaking the spirit with an abusive hand. Rejecting that, he went on to win nine world’s championships in the show ring. Today, Monty’s goal is to share his message that “Violence is never the answer.” Roberts has been encouraged by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II with the award of the Membership in The Royal Victorian Order, as well as becoming Patron of Join-Up International. Other honors received were the ASPCA “Founders” award and the MSPCA George T. Angell Humanitarian Award. Monty is credited with launching the first of its kind Equus Online University; an interactive online lesson site that is the definitive learning tool for violence-free training.
Join-Up philosophies can be seen at work with both humans and horses across the world, from farms to major corporations. To learn more about Monty Roberts or the many applications of his Join-Up training methods, visit www.montyroberts.com. Horse Sense and Soldiers aired on Discovery Military highlighting the therapeutic effect that horses and Monty Roberts’ Join-Up® have on PTSD. Roberts has teamed with the Corporate Learning Instituteto help transfer the key learnings from his work to the workplace.
