Monty Roberts University & Horsemanship Radio Stream Gold!
July 31, 2019 Solvang, California: Monty Roberts and Tad Coffin (Montreal 1976) teamed up to create a video series to show how science and horsemanship can help a horse build up his top line, to be balanced when he is being ridden. The horse’s pelvis has to be able to rotate so he can step further under his mass and carry more weight on the hind quarters. Tad believes that of all the tools available to riders, the saddle has the most untapped potential to positively impact horse and rider performance. His research efforts and saddle fit solutions are driven by feedback from horses, and Tad is constantly working to find ways to make horses more comfortable, which leads to improved welfare and performance.
If the horse’s back is concave, or hollowed out, from back pain, the horse may not be able to rotate the pelvis and collect in self carriage. This is true no matter the discipline, whether it is racing, jumping, dressage, Western, or trail riding. What we try to accomplish with a Tad Coffin saddle is to allow freedom of movement so the horse can use his body properly to be balanced when ridden and in motion.
Riding the mare Bally Cor, Tad Coffin won Individual and Team Gold medals at the Pan American Games in Mexico in 1975 and repeated this success at the Montreal Olympic Games the following year. Tad Coffin can be found on Monty Roberts’ University at https://montyrobertsuniversity.com/training/2031189199 and on the Horsemanship Radio podcast at https://www.horsemanshipradio.com/2018/07/08/116-by-omega-fields-olympic-gold-medalists-will-simpson-tad-coffin/
Other recent guest interviews are Ashley Mancuso, horse trainer, dressage rider, film maker and yoga instructor who uses yoga to facilitate a better connection between horse and rider.
Staci Hancock founded the Kentucky Equine Humane Center, is a past member of the Responsible Breeders Council at HSUS and a founding member of Water Hay Oats Alliance, LLC working to ban dangerous drugs in racing.
Joe Camp, film writer, producer, director, the man behind the canine superstar Benji. Joe wrote the best-selling The Soul of a Horse. Camp has written, produced and directed seven theatrical motion pictures (including all of the Benji movies) cumulatively grossing well over $600 million, making him one of the most successful independent filmmakers of all time.

MONTY ROBERTS AVAILABLE FOR SELECT INTERVIEWS:
The New York Times bestselling author and world-renowned horse trainer Monty Roberts is available for interviews.
MONTY ROBERTS first gained widespread fame with the release of his New York Times Best Selling book, The Man Who Listens To Horses; a chronicle of his life and development of his non-violent horse training methods called Join-Up®. Monty grew up on a working horse farm as a firsthand witness to traditional, often violent methods of horse training and breaking the spirit with an abusive hand. Rejecting that, he went on to win nine world’s championships in the show ring. Today, Monty’s goal is to share his message that “Violence is never the answer.” Roberts has been encouraged by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II with the award of the Membership in The Royal Victorian Order, as well as becoming Patron of Join-Up International. Other honors received were the ASPCA “Founders” award and the MSPCA George T. Angell Humanitarian Award and FEI’s Man of the Year. Monty was recently included as Horse and Hound Magazine’s Top 50 Horsemen of All Time. Monty is credited with launching the first of its kind Equus Online University; an interactive online lesson site that is the definitive learning tool for violence-free training.
JOIN-UP philosophies can be seen at work with both humans and horses across the world, from farms to major corporations.
