December 21, 2019 Solvang, California: Before YouTube and speedy internet connections, when dial-up was a barrier to streaming video and social media platforms were not yet an App on your phone, there was less pressure for horse businesses to engage on media. Cell phones were handy, your website was your brochure and print media was pervasive for sharing your services.

Not any more – not even close.

For Monty Roberts, the move to help educate in non-traditional ways was natural. He didn’t go about his horse training in traditional ways, so it was logical he would seek a more global approach to influencing a new generation of horse lovers and trainers.

“When I met Queen Elizabeth in 1989 and demonstrated my horse training techniques, she insisted I write a book. I requested it be a video instead but the Queen believes that books are forever and its true. I’m glad I wrote the book ‘The Man Who Listens to Horses’ but video is still more my medium to demonstrate a gestural body language like that between the horse and human,” explains Roberts.

That may be an understatement, since his foresight lead him to develop the Monty Roberts Online University . Ten years later, nearly 600 on-demand lessons exist on it to educate horse people on every continent. Unquestionably his teaching has reached millions of people, even those who use equine-assisted learning in their vocations. And his Online University aids in quality control of the concepts while developing the techniques with innovations and improvements. Roberts’ 70 plus certified instructors world-wide see that language translations in courses break down barriers as well.

At age 84, Monty Roberts has spent over 70 years working on his non-violent training techniques, which have become widely renowned and utilized in many disciplines and industries across the world. In recent years, however, he has turned his focus to the healing power of horses, and how remarkable they are at reducing violence and negative emotions in humans.

Roberts shows no signs of slowing down. His 2019 autumn tour dates had him on several continents and away from his home in California from September through November. Always the planner, Monty and his team are preparing for their 3rd annual event called The Movement, to create a one of a kind experience, uniting outstanding speakers and live demonstrations with horses to show the unprecedented difference horses can make across all aspects of life.

“Hundreds of people around the world have joined us in the past two years at Flag is Up Farms for what many called a life changing experience,” said Debbie Roberts Loucks who was inspired by her father to share more of the horse work that has positive affects on all humans.

“Horses are the unsung heroes of many parts of our life. They have unprecedented healing power and they help us learn, lead and live better,” adds Nelly Kennedy who volunteers her time and expertise helping craft the message and experience of the event. Kennedy owns a Quarter Horse called Luna and recognizes how important horses are to so many different populations.

Temple Grandin and Monty will work together at The Movement 2020 to further illustrate the diversity of healing that can come from horses. Grandin has received numerous awards and honors and HBO premiered a movie about Grandin in 2010. She has published several books both on autism and animals, including “Animals in Translation” a New York Times bestseller. Grandin is a past member of the Autism Society of America Board of Directors and earned her bachelor’s degree from Franklin Pierce College, a master’s degree from Arizona State University and a doctorate from the University of Illinois.

The Movement 2020 will expand to thee days in June to incorporate even more horse work. Featuring Monty Roberts & a keynote by Dr. Temple Grandin with many more outstanding presenters, hosted by Rick Lamb, the dates are June 21, 22, 23, 2020 at Flag Is Up Farms, Solvang, California. Tickets are available on an Early Bird discount until December 31, 2019, more information is on the website.

Last year’s event contained a wealth of horse knowledge with master instructors Dr. Roberts Miller DVM, founder of Foal Imprinting and Dr. Veronica Fowler, who has spent more than 18 years leading research projects in the field of animal health and welfare, and has published more than 25 scientific papers in peer review journals. There were many more presenters who created a collaboration of knowledge about the positive effects of human-horse interactions, sharing their unique ways to apply non-violent forms of communication and practice mindfulness and leadership, to help humans and horses live a better life. The Movement 2019 talks are recorded and available for purchase.

MONTY ROBERTS AVAILABLE FOR SELECT INTERVIEWS:

The New York Times bestselling author and world-renowned horse trainer Monty Roberts is available for interviews.

MONTY ROBERTS first gained widespread fame with the release of his New York Times Best Selling book, The Man Who Listens To Horses; a chronicle of his life and development of his non-violent horse training methods called Join-Up®. Monty grew up on a working horse farm as a firsthand witness to traditional, often violent methods of horse training and breaking the spirit with an abusive hand. Rejecting that, he went on to win nine world’s championships in the show ring. Today, Monty’s goal is to share his message that “Violence is never the answer.” Roberts has been encouraged by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II with the award of the Membership in The Royal Victorian Order, as well as becoming Patron of Join-Up International. Other honors received were the ASPCA “Founders” award and the MSPCA George T. Angell Humanitarian Award. Monty is credited with launching the first of its kind Equus Online University; an interactive online lesson site that is the definitive learning tool for violence-free training.

Join-Up philosophies can be seen at work with both humans and horses across the world, from farms to major corporations. To learn more about Monty Roberts or the many applications of his Join-Up training methods, visit www.montyroberts.com .
