309: From the Monty Roberts Archive — A Lifetime of Doing Right by the Horse

In this special episode of Horsemanship Radio, Debbie Loucks opens the Monty Roberts Archive following the passing of her father, legendary horseman Monty Roberts, on July 31, 2026.

For more than a decade, Monty joined Debbie on Horsemanship Radio to share the lessons horses had taught him over a lifetime. Today we return to a particularly meaningful conversation, first heard in Episode 225 in February 2023.

Monty reflects on his lifetime goals, the importance of remaining a student, working hard at what you love, and above all, setting out to do right by the horse.

His voice reminds us that his work was never intended to end with him. It belongs to every horseperson willing to listen, learn and choose a non-violent path.
